| WINTER SEMESTER

T_W1: Traffic Engineering
5 ECTS, Lectures & Labs

Content: Introduction to transport modeling. Transportation demand analysis and management. Four step modeling: trip generation, trip distribution, modal split, traffic assignment. Fundamental parameters of traffic flow. Transport demand modeling software - PTV Visum. 


T_W2: Operational Research
5 ECTS, Lectures & Labs

Content: Introduction to the course. Definition of the mathematical model and its components, transportation and logistics. Mathematical model construction and implementation in Solver (add-in to MSExcel). Linear programming, assumptions and examples, graphical method. Integer programming, assumptions and examples. Transportation problem, assumptions, mathematical model, Northwestern corner rule, the Minimum Cell Cost Method and examples. Assignment problem, the assignment of vehicles and drivers to transportation and logistic tasks.


T_W3: Financial Management
5 ECTS, Lectures & Labs

Content: Basics of financial management; the importance of the financial policy of the company and the scope of financial policy. Sources of financing; internal and external sources of financing activity and development of the company - equity, finance and operating lease, bank credit, loans, trade credit and bonds; characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of each type of financing. Financial Statements; balance sheet:  features, layout and components, current and fixed assets,  equity and liabilities; profit and loss account and cash flow statement - features, layout and elements. Evaluation of company's financial condition; symptoms of bankruptcy, the external and internal causes of the crisis. Indicators of the economic condition - early warning systems.


T_W4: IT Systems in Transport
5 ECTS, Lectures & Labs

Content: Computer systems, operating systems, databases, computer networks, Internet, client-server architecture, peer-to-peer architecture, algorithms, artificial intelligence, cryptography, compression, GIS, GPS, navigation, mobile systems, ITS, fleet management, traffic management, CAN networks.


| SUMMER SEMESTER

T_S1: Applied Simulation in Logistics 
5 ECTS, Lectures & Labs

Content: Principles of simulation; systems’ analysis, modeling and simulation; verification and validation of simulation models; analysis of input and output data; what if analysis. Case studies: modeling and simulation of production process, distribution and logistic systems; input and output data analysis; bottleneck search; redesign of logistic systems; application of object-oriented simulation tool ExtendSim


T_S2: Business Process Management 
5 ECTS, Lectures & Labs

Content: Identification of processes in transport and logistics. Definition of key terms to concern the process management. Life cycle of business process management; business practices, techniques and methods to create and improve business pro-cesses. Principles of modeling process in the software ARIS Architect 9.7. Process modelling notation EPC (event-driven process chain) and notation used in hierarchization of process - VACD (value-added chain diagram). Reconstruction process  of supply chain management. Process modeling in BPMN v2. Simulation and searching for optimal solution with ARIS Architect 9.7. Process evaluation and improvement


T_S3: Transport Economics
5 ECTS, Lectures & Labs

Content: Transport demand and supply. Costs and pricing. Investment, decision-making on projects, cost-benefit analysis. Public transport services. Transport integration.


T_S4: Optimisation in Transportation and Logistics
5 ECTS, Lectures & Labs

Content: Classification of decision problems in transport and logistics. Principles of mathematical modelling; feasible vs. optimal solutions; precise and approximate solution. Key steps in solving optimisation model. Searching for optimal solution with MS Excel and SOLVER's engines; sensitivity analysis in Excel. Portfolio selection with application of linear programming. Fleet composition with integer programming. Knapsack problem with integer progarmming. Work assignment using binary programming.
